When Choosing Affiliate Programs — Ask Questions
Many internet marketers know that affiliate marketing is a very effective way of earning extra income on the internet.
It levels the playing field and gives the newest internet marketer and the experienced internet marketer a way to earn a very good profit online.
Affiliate marketing is very popular on the internet and since most of them are free to join, more and more people are finding themselves using affiliate marketing to make extra income and to enhance their own products.
A few things you want to remember when you decide to join an affiliate program are to research the programs you want to join, ASK QUESTIONS and GET THEM ANSWERED BEFORE YOU JOIN and BEFORE YOU ADD THEM TO YOUR WEBSITE.
You want to make sure the choice of affiliate products you choose to promote are right for you and a good fit for your website.
It is very difficult to promote a product if you haven’t used the product yourself, therefore, you should use the products before promoting them in order to be able to give a credible and genuine endorsement of the products.
Here are a few important questions you should ask and have answered before joining an affiliate program.
1. Are referrals you make to their program from your website tracked and how long do they keep them in their system?
This is very important for you to know so that you get credit for any sales you make to visitors to your website over a certain period of time. Some visitors purchase immediately and some wait and return at a later date to make a purchase.
2. Do they have a one or two tier affiliate program?
With a one tier program you only get paid a commission for the sales you make whereas with a two tier program you get paid a commission for the sales you make and a commission for the sales made by other affiliates you sponsor in the program.
There are a few two-tier programs that pay other small fees for affiliates you sponsor.
3. When are Commission Checks issued?
Every affiliate program is different. Many of them set a minimum amount of commission you have to earn before they will issue you a check.
Every affiliate also has a different payment schedule as to when they issue checks.
Some issue checks monthly, some checks are issued every 2 weeks and others are issued at other times depending on how the affiliate set up his or her program.
4. Are there affiliate stats available and what kind?
Affiliate stats should be readily available for you to check them out at any time. These stats will let you know how many hits your website is getting and how many sales are being generated from your site.
5. Are Hits per sale ratio stats available? This will tell you the amount of traffic you have to generate to be able to earn a commission from a sale.
6. Besides commissions do you get paid for hits and impressions? Getting paid for hits and impressions helps you earn extra money when you earn a commission.
7. How much is the amount of the commission you will earn? This information is vitally important in order for you to keep track of the amount of money you should expect to earn in commissions.
These are just a few of the questions you need to have answered before you decide to join an affiliate program.
It is most helpful to familiarize yourself with as many of the important aspects of any affiliate program you decide to promote.
By doing your homework up front, you will eliminate a lot of the problems you could encounter later on and you will be better equipped to select only those programs that are right for you and your website.
